This is the first part of 3-part series with Dr. Suman Chahar, Chairperson, Sulabh Sanitation and Social Reforms about the incredible journey of 40 years of Sulabh International ( Sulabh Sauchalaya ). * In this she shares her experiences on how embarrassing it was to stay in villages without basic toilets. In fact they stopped visiting their uncle's place just because they didn't have the toilets, which would make them uncomfortable. * Then she completed Ph.D. from IIT Delhi and met Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak ( Founder - Sulabh International ) in one the conference where she decided to join his mission. * Then she explains how Dr. Pathak started Sulabh Sauchalaya to liberate and elevate the status of scavengers. * She also shared some experiences of Dr. Pathak's younger days. Dr. Pathak's was a typical brahmin family, for whom scavengers were considered to be untouchables. This is something which influenced Dr. Pathak to dedicate his life for the up-liftment of scavengers.
