Sweetly Designs creates a sustainable livelihood for rural artisans by providing them access to global markets for handicrafts and empowering them with training, raw materials, knowledge resources and other supports. This is small documentary on our work with Rural Women in Dangs and SweetlyDesigns impact in last six months in the lives of these inspiring women. Workplace: Dandakaranya of The Epic Ramayan was nothing but Dang District of Gujarat State. This historical District is the only District of the State with dense forest. Total 311 villages are covered by Dang, where even today 75% of population is living below povertyline and 98% population is Tribal.Statistics show that a long path of Development is still unexplored. Majority of the population is mainly dependent on agriculture for their livelihood. Animal husbandry and bamboo cutting are the other economic activities in the region. SweetlyDesigns Impact : ** Sustainable livelihood for 15 rural women since last six months.. ** Self-Confidence & Self-respect amongst SweetlyDesigners ** Better education for kids ** Increased community support & recognition Our work for SweetlyDesigns in the Dang District is being included as Case study by Forest Department for sustainable livelihoods which was presented to JICA, Japanese organization which supports Forest Department to build Self-Help Groups in Gujarat . As of now we work with 5 villages in Dang district and give employment to 15 rural women. Our aim is to employ 500 rural people by the end of 2012.
